Some Thoughts On Animal Statues

Sheba Would Make A Good Statue

One of the best things about creating a garden is being able to put things that are dear to your heart in it.  After all, you want your garden to be a place of peace and relaxation. If you are an animal person, a dog statue could be a great accent.

Every once in a while an animal comes into your life that finds a special place in your heart. Sheba was a dog like that. We bought her from a friend when she was eight weeks old with the intention of raising her for the show ring. As she was growing, we took her to training classes both for obedience and for show instructions. We had never done anything like this before so we learned as much as she did.

To make a long story short, she eventually won her championship title in the AKC ring as well as distinguishing herself in the german style show ring. (At one show both Sheba and her littermate brother won for their age class!)

When we weren’t taking her to shows, she was a very happy house puppy, fitting right in with my two young children.  She really was part of the family.  That was many years ago and she still lives in our hearts.

It’s a sad fact of life that people usually outlive their pets.   We no longer live in the country, but if I did, I would love to have a life size rottie statue to commemorate her.

Maybe the love of your life isn’t such a large dog.  It could have been a special cat, a bird or other animal.  When they leave us, they leave a hole in our hearts but over time, the hurt fades and a statue can remind us of the love they once gave so freely.  That is why I love Dog Statues and believe they have a place in the home garden.
